Spring
March - May
The valleys burst with color as rhododendrons and magnolias bloom. Warm and pleasant weather makes it perfect for sightseeing.
Summer / Monsoon
June - August
The monsoon brings lush green landscapes. A quieter tourist season offering a more intimate travel experience.
Autumn
September - November
Clear blue skies offer spectacular Himalayan views. The best season for trekking and outdoor activities.
Winter
December - February
Cold but dry with occasional snowfall. Excellent for bird watching, especially the black-necked cranes in Phobjikha Valley.

Southern Foothills

Hot and humid throughout the year, with heavy monsoon rainfall. Subtropical climate.
Central Valleys
2,000 - 4,000m
Temperate climate with four distinct seasons. Where most Bhutanese live and tourists visit.
High Mountains
4,000 - 7,500m
Cold year-round with snow in winter. Suitable for trekking in spring and autumn only.
Best Time to Visit
The peak tourist seasons are March-May (Spring) and September-November (Autumn) when the weather is most favorable for outdoor activities and festivals.
